Mrs. Obama’s fans disowned her after her interview with the People magazine. While promoting her new gardening book, Mrs. Obama was asked whom she would like to be if she could be anyone. Her answer was not a doctor, not a teacher, not a science woman … her answer was Beyoncé.
Personally I have nothing against that answer Beyoncé is hot, young, successful, rich and humble with an amazing talent. But some people seem to have a problem with that answer.
Probably that answer wouldn’t bother anyone if it came from any other person on the face of the world but it changes its colors when it comes from a first lady.
So why people are chastising her? Because she is the most influential black woman in the world and millions of young black girls are looking up to her and now the society is not like how it used to be like 20-30 years ago.
Back then when they asked kids what they want to be when they grow up, probably the top 3 answers would be; Policeman, doctor or a teacher but if you ask the same question again especially in a minority community now the answer most probably will be a rapper or an athlete or an entertainer.
As long as they do, what they are happy to do they will be happy and successful, and let’s face it people how many of us end up being what we wanted to be when we were a kid?
