TV3’s weatherman Mike Hall is leaving his presenting role in the 3 News 6pm bulletin after seven years.
He will be replaced by Ingrid Hipkiss, MediaWorks announced today.
“Mike has done a great job over the past seven years, introducing numerous innovations to the 3 News weather product as both a presenter and producer,” MediaWorks TV Chief Executive Paul Maher said.
Hall will continue to freelance for TV3, and will work on the weather desk as a consultant during a full handover developing further weather features.
Ingrid Hipkiss has worked for 3 News for 10 years as a journalist and presenter. She currently works as a senior reporter for the 6pm bulletin, after being part of the 3 News press gallery team for four years, fronting Sunrise, and presenting Nightline during Sacha McNeil’s maternity leave.
Hall said it was a privilege to bring the weather to Kiwis. “Many New Zealanders are either passionate or parochial about their weather – I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Hall’s final day on air will be Friday 3 May.
