Watch: Fat Freddy’s new video

Fat Freddy’s Drop have turned themselves into marionettes for the video to their latest single Clean The House.

Music video director Mark Williams, aka MC Slave, said the action on screen “ticks all the bad-ass boxes – card games, drinking, gun fights and car chases.”

Pulling the strings is puppeteer Jon Coddington whose theatrical puppet homage to cult film Pulp Fiction was a hit in the 2012 Wellington fringe festival.

For Clean The House Coddington sculpted pint-sized marionettes of each of the seven band members before equipping them with tiny instruments and suits designed by Nell Styling.

Williams, Freddy’s’ videographer and MC, first made himself a name with the video to their breakout single, Wandering Eye.

“The marionettes are so amazing it wasn’t until the second day of shooting that I realised I wasn’t working with the ‘band’.

“Their live section performance is the best of their career and this video proves that not only are they excellent musicians, they can really act too” Williams said.

Clean The House is the second single from Blackbird, the forthcoming studio album from Fat Freddy’s Drop.

The single is available now from iTunes and Blackbird is due for release in late June.
