The mighty Komodo dragon has been outrun by a petite Japanese woman wearing a kimono.
Ayako Imoto, an adventurer and Japanese celebrity, performed the stunt for Japanese television in one of those “don’t try this when you’re in eastern Indonesia” moments.
She is seen with a piece of rope tied to her with raw meat at the end to bait the beast.
After a few stretches from Imoto, the man-eating dragon can been seen lumbering towards her.
Imoto scampers away and leads the Komodo directly into the path of the film crew, who attempt to subdue the beast with long sticks.
The effectiveness of the sticks is not known as the camera cuts out during the subduing.
Imoto pulled the same stunt a few years earlier while wearing a school uniform, which is undoubtedly easier to pull off in comparison to her latest traditional Japanese outfit, the Daily Mail reported.
She has a wildlife segment on Japanese television and is known for her daredevil antics.
She is also known to wrestle alligators, handle deadly predators and race cheetahs, the paper said.
Komodo dragons are the largest lizards in the world, move at up to 24 kilometres per hour and can scent their prey from kilometres away.
It injects a dose of poison into its victims before ripping them to pieces with razor-sharp teeth and a “can-opener” bite technique.
The lizard can only be found on five small eastern Indonesian islands and can kill animals far larger than themselves, including water buffalo, pigs and Timor deer.
