After a wildly successful Kickstarter, musician and singer Kawehi has a new EP in the works.
As part of the project, she’s recreated an iconic Seattle grunge track, making it even grungier.
Her cover of Nirvana’s Heart-Shaped Box is going to divide opinions; the song has a huge robotic influence, with some serious vocoder work and a whole lot of angst.
Kawehi hit nearly $30,000 on a $3000 target for her Robot Heart Kickstarter campaign, and Heart-Shaped Box is one of several songs she has covered for the project.
Live-streaming concerts, digital album copies and bespoke gifts are all going to Kawehi’s backers – the Kickstarter wrapped up a week ago with over 400 contributions.
