The TV Guide’s hot gossip

Not only is Star Trek star, Patrick Stewart, about to wed a jazz singer (Sunny Ozell) half his age, but he’s getting Gandalf to conduct the wedding ceremony!

Well, alright – not Gandalf exactly, but his alter-ego, Sir Ian McKellen.

Patrick, 72, revealed the plans on The Jonathon Ross Show recently, saying his X-Men co-star would do the honours. McKellen appears to be in demand for such occasions, having already officiated at a gay civil union ceremony. Must be something in the voice.

It looks like Game Of Thrones author, George R R Martin, will finally have his moment in the winter sun when he makes a cameo appearance in the third season of the hit fantasy drama.

In fact, Martin would have been seen in the first episode of the first season, but 90 per cent of it was re-shot and his scene ended up on the cutting-room floor. He should have known what a ruthless and savage world he had created!

“I have to be careful what I eat because they’re freezing my eggs,” announced Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara, recently.

It sounds like a line from the hit US sitcom but Vergara, 40, is talking about the fertility treatment she is having in a bid for a child with her boyfriend, Nick Loeb.

Vergara already has a 21-year-old son, Manolo, who has no doubt been warned to stay away from the fridge.

Kiwi star, Anna Hutchison, recently voted Sexiest Woman in the TV Guide Best On The Box awards, has really been doing it tough on the set of Spartacus: War Of The Damned.

While her co-stars feast on the on-set catering, Anna has been literally doing porridge by taking part in the Live Below The Line anti-poverty campaign.

The idea is to survive on just $2.25 a day. That’s tough in the middle of a revolt against the Roman Empire!

Well, it seems the critics loved the US comedy-drama, Enlightened, but the viewers have left the show, and its star, Laura Dern, in the dark.

Despite Dern’s 2012 Golden Globe award, viewing figures for the show were not high enough and it has been cancelled by the network.

Creator, Mike White, had an inkling that the end was nigh, so he made the final episode of series two into a potential finale. Lights out, everyone.
