Human skull piece found in Turkish ‘acid well’

Investigators discovered part of a human skull and other remains at a site in southeastern Turkey where the bodies of Kurdish victims of alleged extrajudicial killings are suspected to have been doused in acid and buried, Turkey’s state news agency was reporting Friday.

Turkey indicts 56 with coup plot

Prosecutors have issued an indictment for 56 suspects accused of membership in an alleged ultranationalist plot to overthrow the Turkish government, Turkey’s official news agency reported Tuesday. “You are the last nation that has the right to speak about civilians and killing civilians,” the five said in a response this month to the U.S. government’s war crimes charges.

Turkish Airlines plane fell ‘vertically’ to ground

The Turkish Airlines plane that crashed this week in Amsterdam fell almost vertically to the ground, making only a short track in the muddy farmer’s field where it went down, Dutch investigators said Friday. That sudden drop indicates the aircraft did not have enough forward speed when it crashed, a spokesman for the Dutch Safety Board said, but the reasons for that are still unclear. It is too early to speculate on the cause of the crash, spokesman Fred Sanders told CNN.
