Aerosmith cancels rest of tour
Aerosmith announced the cancellation of the remainder of its summer tour Thursday, more than a week after the band’s lead singer tumbled off stage in South Dakota. “Due to injuries Steven Tyler sustained last week when he fell from the stage during a concert in Sturgis, South Dakota, doctors have advised the lead singer to take the time to properly recuperate from the accident that resulted in a broken shoulder and stitches to his head,” the band said in a statement. The accident happened August 5 during a concert at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in western South Dakota.

Tiger Woods claims he escaped a fine for his outspoken comments about a tournament official after his four-shot win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday. Woods lambasted European Tour referee John Paramor for warning him and playing partner Padraig Harrington for slow play in the final round at Firestone. One person was rescued from the Hudson River on Saturday after a tour helicopter collided with a small plane, the Coast Guard said. A helicopter believed to have six people on board collided with a plane over the river between Lower Manhattan and Hoboken, New Jersey, New York Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne told CNN

The death of a spectator overshadowed an intriguing 14th stage of the Tour de France which saw Rinaldo Nocentini desperately cling on to the leader’s yellow jersey in cycling’s premier event.
