DiPascali, Madoff’s Right-Hand Man, Pleads Guilty

Frank DiPascali, the former financial chief for disgraced billionaire financier Bernie Madoff, told a federal court judge on Tuesday that he and others knew as far back as the early 1990s that no sales were taking place in Madoff’s investment scam. He made the comments while pleading guilty to criminal charges as part of a government cooperation agreement for his role in Madoff’s $65 billion Ponzi scheme.

Saudis pull plug on Lebanese TV station after lewd content is aired

Saudi Arabian officials have closed a second office of a Lebanese broadcasting network, this one in Riyadh, after the network aired an interview with a Saudi man who bragged about his sex life, authorities said. Pakistani police registered a case Tuesday against Musharraf over his order to arrest and detain judges in late 2007, the Pakistani High Commission in London said. As a result, “If Musharraf returned to Pakistan, he would face a court who would decide whether he is arrested or released on bail,” a spokeswoman for the High Commission said

Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s relatives called to hospital

Relatives of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, a sister of President Kennedy, were summoned Monday to a hospital on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a source close to the family told CNN. “It’s minute to minute right now,” the source said. Shriver, 88, founder of the Special Olympics, has been in the hospital for several days, her family said, and her relatives were summoned after she suffered a setback, the source said

‘Sick’ Stoner forced out of MotoGP races

Former world MotoGP champion Casey Stoner has confirmed he will miss the next three races in the series in a bid to cure the mystery illness which has hindered his season. Australian Stoner, the 2007 champion, has been suffering from severe fatigue since the Grand Prix of Catalunya in June — and was a dismal 14th in the British round at Donington in his last race. Doctors have now advised the 23-year-old Marlboro Ducati rider, who lies third in the standings behind Fiat Yamaha duo Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, to sit out the next three rounds beginning at the Czech MotoGP in Brno this Sunday
