Simon Gooding and Brendon Morrow already knew their way around the studio as session musicians for other bands and had already mapped out their future before they ever met. While studying audio engineering at SAE in Byron Bay, Australia, they shared a cramped dorm room, and discovered a mutual love for Radiohead, The Beatles and The Mars Volta and when they returned to Auckland, The Map Room was already half born.

MTV reality TV star found dead

A cast member of MTV reality show “Buckwild” was found dead in rural West Virginia after being reported missing by family members following a late-night session in a local bar. Shain Gandee, 21, was found dead in a car along with two other men including his uncle David on Monday morning in Sissonville, Kanawha County, a spokeswoman for County Commissioner Kent Carper told Reuters

The Great British Battle Between Privacy and the Press

It was the final act in what Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper called “one of the biggest acts of civil disobedience in modern times.” Chafing under a court order that banned the press from naming a top player with an English soccer club who was alleged to have had an affair with a reality TV star, Britons took to Twitter. By May 21, details of the affair had been leaked so widely on the internet that over 50,000 users had tweeted the name of the player: Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs.
