Reality bites for ‘Jon & Kate’

In the beginning, it was all about the children. Before there was the hit reality show “Jon & Kate Plus 8,” there were just Jonathan and Kate Gosselin, an information technology analyst and registered nurse marginally known as the parents of what was believed to be only the second set of sextuplets born in Pennsylvania.

On Agenda, Gays Ask, But Obama’s Not Telling

On January 9, the President-elect’s spokesman Robert Gibbs gave a rare one-word answer. Asked if Barack Obama would “get rid” of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which prohibits gays from serving openly, Gibbs replied firmly, “Yes.” Ever since, the relationship between the President and his gay and lesbian supporters has only gotten more complicated. President Obama will sign a memorandum Wednesday granting health care and other benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees, two senior administration officials said. But Jeff Dunham, a ventriloquist, is perhaps the most popular stand-up comedian in the U.S. And he broke through by playing straight man to a terrorist — a fiberglass one.

Opponents of California’s voter-approved ban on same-sex marriages launched a new court challenge Wednesday, led by lawyers who were on opposite sides of the case that settled the 2000 presidential race. Attorneys Ted Olson and David Boies have asked a federal judge to block California from enforcing the ban, known as Proposition 8. “We are two lawyers from opposite ends of the political spectrum who have come together to support one of the most important issues of our time,” Olson told reporters.

The state organization’s officials — who appear eager to say farewell to Prejean — have sent their recommendation to Trump for his consideration, Miss California USA Co-executive Director Keith Lewis said
