Koreas to stage new round of reunions

Families long separated by the Korean War will be able to see their loved ones for the first time in years in a series of reunions starting Saturday near the border between North and South Korea. The reunions — the first in nearly two years — are taking place through October 1 on Mount Keumgang, a North Korean resort near the eastern part of the border.

Iran acknowledges second nuclear facility

The United States, France and Britain have presented “detailed evidence” to the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog that “Iran has been building a covert uranium enrichment facility,” President Obama said Friday before the start of the G-20 economic summit. Iran’s newly unveiled uranium enrichment facility “is inconsistent with a peaceful (nuclear) program,” Obama said.

Renault’s F1 sponsors crash out of contracts

Renault was yesterday hit by the fallout of its Formula One team’s “Crashgate” scandal after two of its sponsors announced they were terminating their contracts with immediate effect. ING, the Dutch bank and Renault Formula One’s title sponsor, said it was “deeply disappointed” at the sequence of events that resulted in the team’s two-year suspended ban for ordering one of its drivers to crash deliberately in last year’s Singapore grand prix.

Damon’s weighty role in comedy ‘The Informant!’

It could be Matt Damon’s most weighty role to date. The athletic Bourne star gained 30 pounds, as well as donning a false moustache and prosthetic nose, to look the part for his latest role as salary man whistle-blower, Mark Whitacre, in Steven Soderbergh’s comedy “The Informant!” Damon remembers Soderbergh describing the look he hoped Whitacre would have in the film as “doughy.” “He just said ‘doughy,'” Damon told CNN at the film’s North American premiere during the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month
