Massa takes the wheel after horror crash

Felipe Massa is back in the fast lane after his life-threatening crash at the Hungarian Grand Prix just nine weeks ago which placed his Formula One future in doubt. The Brazilian has taken to the wheel of a kart in his home city of Sao Paulo, managing 60 laps of the Granja Viana circuit and is to continue the activity over the next few days.

Adebayor charged for violent conduct

The Football Association (FA) have charged Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor with “violent” and “improper” conduct following the Togo captain’s performance against English Premier League side and former club, Arsenal. A statement on the governing body’s official Web site read: “Under the fast-track disciplinary process, Adebayor has been charged with violent conduct following an incident with [Arsenal player] Robin van Persie, which resulted in the Arsenal player receiving facial injuries.

Sri Lanka expels UNICEF official, agency says

The Sri Lankan government has ordered a UNICEF official to leave the country, accusing him of spreading propaganda supporting Tamil rebels, the agency — the United Nations Children’s Fund — told CNN Sunday. UNICEF denies the allegations against its spokesman in Sri Lanka, James Elder, an Australian citizen, and officials with the agency are scheduled to meet with government officials on Monday in hopes of keeping Elder inside the country, said Sarah Crowe, UNICEF spokeswoman for South Asia

Accused terrorists held at Guantanamo Bay complained of abuse that they said led them to tell their CIA interrogators lies, according to sections of U.S. government transcripts made public on Monday. Suspected al Qaeda figure Abu Zubaydah told a military tribunal in 2007 that he was physically and mentally tortured for months.
