Google Voice: A push to rewire your phone service

Google plans to unveil a service called Google Voice on Thursday that indicates Google wants to do with your telephone communications what companies such as Yahoo have done with e-mail. Google Voice, the new version of the GrandCentral technology Google acquired in July 2007, has the potential to make the search giant a middleman in an important part of people’s lives, telephone communications. With the service, people can pick a new phone number from Google Voice; when others call it, Google can ring all the actual phones a person uses and handle voice mail.

Thousands attend funeral for Zimbabwe prime minister’s wife

Thousands of people gathered Wednesday for the funeral of Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s wife, who was killed last week in a car wreck. Susan Tsvangirai was buried in her rural village of Buhera, about 200 kilometers (124 miles) south of the capital, Harare. The funeral followed two memorial services on Tuesday: one at a church, where President Robert Mugabe addressed mourners, and the other at a stadium

DNA proves Bolsheviks killed all of Russian czar’s children

One of the most enduring mysteries of the 20th century has been put to rest: DNA analysis of bone fragments has proven that two of Czar Nicholas’ children believed to have escaped were killed with their royal family during the Russian Revolution. The chemically damaged and burnt remains were found in the Romanov family’s makeshift grave outside the city of Yekaterinburg, Russia, in 2007.
