Britons are famed for their love of curry and, over the years, the country’s taste for South Asian food has evolved into a unique blend of cuisine specially created for British palates. Nowhere is this more apparent than at the so-called ‘curry mile’ in London’s Brick Lane, which this week celebrates what is billed as “the only curry festival in Europe.” The two week-long festival takes place in the street which received its name during the rebuilding period after the Great Fire of London.

France Telecom replaces deputy chief amid suicide storm
France Telecom, which faces a political storm over a spate of employee suicides, on Monday appointed Stephane Richard, a former top aide of France’s economy minister, as deputy chief executive of the telecoms group. “Louis-Piere Wenes, the current deputy chief executive in charge of operations in France, has asked Didier Lombard, chairman and chief executive of France Telecom, to relieve him from his responsibilities,” the statement said

President Obama will meet with the leaders of Mexico and Canada on Monday, with the three expected to discuss a broad range of issues. Obama arrived in Guadalajara, Mexico’s second-largest city, Sunday evening for the day and a half of talks with Mexican President Felipe Calderon and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper
