Test your Michael Jackson knowledge
The horde of people gathered on the streets outside Liverpool Street train station, one of the city’s major transport hubs, and burst out into cheers, chants and dances to the tunes of “Billie Jean,” “Bad” and “Thriller.” Life-long Jackson fan Milo Yiannopoulos organized the moonwalk, the singer’s trademark backwards shuffle, by sending messages via Twitter and Facebook. His messages went “viral” –spreading like wildfire around the Internet — as the number of people wanting to join his impromptu “flash mob” event far exceeded his expectations: “I don’t know what I’ve unleashed here,” Yiannopoulos, who said he doesn’t even know how to moonwalk, told CNN

On Scene: Among the Protesters in Tehran
Iran is preparing for a potentially violent confrontation between the government and supporters of Mir-Hossein Mousavi on Saturday. While messages on Twitter and other social networking sites indicate much concern about safety, many opposed to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insist they will attend the rally called by Mousavi. Several drew inspiration from a protest march on Thursday, an account of which TIME received on Friday morning.
The GOP Plans a Rebirth, with Pepperoni and Protests
If House and Senate Republican leaders have their way, Saturday’s gathering at Pie-Tanza, a strip-mall pizza joint in Arlington, Virginia, will be remembered as the beginning of the rebirth of the Grand Old Party. In addition to pizza, the venue, selected by the freshly born, center-leaning National Council for a New America , served up symbolism: suburban areas like this one, on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., were GOP bastions not so long ago, and they’ll need to come back to the fold for a Republican resurgence.

But given that this audience has more than its share of hip, jaded Manhattanites, the management might also offer an advisory that Kooza features something far more hazardous to an urban sophisticate’s enjoyment: mimes and clowns. Who among us has not mocked a mime Those mordant, white-faced pierrots, especially of the Russian variety, are usually about as funny as Dostoevsky, as buoyant as Brezhnev
At Coachella, The Killers rock, celebs sighted
For some concertgoers, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival really kicked into action on Day Two. Day One was leisurely and pleasant — the weather was mild, the acts were fairly mellow and the big headliner was Paul McCartney. On Day Two, someone took the dial and turned it up a notch, as the desert sun beat down a little harder, the music pumped a little louder and the crowds who packed the VIP tent threw a little more attitude.
McCartney show is pop Olympus on Coachella’s indie plain
The souvenir booth at the 2009 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival said it all. At one end, a T-shirt was proudly exclaimed: “I’m here for the opening bands.” At the other end, a collection of merchandise was printed with a single name, “Macca.” Most of the 43 acts in Friday night’s lineup were buzzworthy indie artists. But topping it off was one of the most commercially successful musicians of all time: Macca

Sudan’s president dances after war crimes move
Sudan’s president was seen smiling, dancing and speaking to a huge crowd of supporters Thursday, a day after a warrant was issued for his arrest on war crimes charges. The display of defiance came as international aid agencies were being ordered to leave the country in retaliation for the move by the International Criminal Court over six years of bloodshed in the country’s Darfur region
