Confirmed swine flu cases leap

Azerbaijan gunman kills 12 at university

A gunman killed 12 people Thursday at a university in Baku, the capital of the former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan, before killing himself, the country’s interior ministry said. The WHO is troubled because in one of the 10 cases in Spain the virus was transmitted from person-to-person within the community. Travel shares down as markets react to swine flu

Trading in travel shares tumbled in markets around the world Monday, amid fears that the outbreak of swine flu in Mexico could turn into a global pandemic. But shares in pharmaceutical businesses and medical companies have shown strong play. At 1100 GMT the FTSE in London was down by 0.6 percent, with the CAC in Paris down by 1.3 percent and the Dax in Frankfurt lower by 1.3 percent.

Swine flu case confirmed in Spain

The first case of swine flu in Europe was confirmed Monday in Spain as a top European health official warned against travel to Mexico and the United States.
