Image shows North Korea rocket on launch pad

A North Korean rocket slated for launch sometime early next month can be clearly seen in a satellite photograph taken Sunday, the Institute for Science and International Security said Sunday. The satellite imagery, obtained by the ISIS from DigitalGlobe, is said to show the rocket at the Musudan-ri launch site in northeastern North Korea.

Children’s charity urges Madonna not to adopt

A British children’s charity has urged Madonna to rethink her planned adoption of a Malawian baby girl as the singer was reportedly due in the east African country to take custody of a four-year-old child. Save the Children spokesman Dominic Nutt said said the child would be better off staying in Malawi than being brought up by the recently-divorced pop star, who has three other children, including an adopted Malawian boy.

Severe weather wreak havoc from Plains to Gulf Coast

Mother Nature provided a little bit of everything throughout parts of the country on Saturday. Heavy winds wreaked havoc on a shopping center in central Tennessee, blowing out windows and damaging the roof of a shopping center, Murfreesboro police spokesman Kyle Evans told CNN Radio. Glass storefronts at the Jackson Heights Shopping Center were blown out 100 to 150 yards into the parking lot, Evans said

Obama: We’re watching rising rivers

President Obama said his administration plans to keep a close watch on and help fight the rising waters in the Dakotas and Minnesota. “Even as we face an economic crisis which demands our constant focus, forces of nature can also intervene in ways that create other crises to which we must respond and respond urgently,” Obama said Saturday in his weekly webcast. “For the people of North and South Dakota and Minnesota who live along rivers spilling over their banks, this is one such moment.” Troops and aircraft were being sent overnight to North Dakota to assist state and local officials ahead of record flooding, as residents along the Red River nervously eyed shored-up dikes and levees.
