Obama plans to nominate Florida official to lead FEMA
President Obama plans to nominate Craig Fugate, director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management, as the next administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the White House said Wednesday. Fugate is expected to join Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano at an event Thursday in New Orleans, Louisiana. “From his experience as a first responder to his strong leadership as Florida’s emergency manager, Craig has what it takes to help us improve our preparedness, response and recovery efforts, and I can think of no one better to lead FEMA,” Obama said in a statement.
Robin Williams, short of breath, takes a break
Doctors advised Robin Williams to take a week off from the 80-city tour of his one-man comedy show after the comedian experienced shortness of breath, according to his publicist. Performances set for this week in three Florida cities — Hollywood, Orlando and Tampa — will be put off until later, the publicist said in a statement on Williams’ Web site. “Williams was experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being evaluated by doctors who are recommending a week of rest,” the statement said
Pakistan hunts for cricket attack gunmen
Pakistani authorities released photos of two suspects Wednesday as they continued to hunt for the gunmen responsible for an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team which left seven people dead. They also offered a 10 million rupee ($125,000) reward for information leading to the arrests of those behind the ambush on the visiting team’s convoy as players and match officials made their way to Lahore’s cricket stadium.

An English football club is being forced to close a stand at its 25,000-seat stadium to cut costs, in what could be the first of many similar moves at other clubs, a sports business expert predicts.
