400 students and kin abducted by militants, Pakistan police say
Militants in a Taliban-held area of Pakistan are believed to have abducted more than 400 students and their relatives Monday after a ceremony marking the last day of school, a police official told CNN. The abduction took place in North Waziristan, located in Pakistan’s tribal region, where the military has waged a bloody battle against Taliban insurgents.

Militants battle Pakistani troops in Waziristan
Twenty-five militants and six soldiers were killed Saturday night in two separate clashes between security forces and insurgents in Pakistan’s tribal region, officials said. Both clashes took place after militants ambushed security forces in South Waziristan, one of seven districts in Pakistan’s mostly ungoverned tribal region along the Afghan border, said military spokesman Gen. Athar Abbas.

Singing sensation Susan Boyle had vowed to leave the television show, "Britain’s Got Talent," after a hectic week, but has since recanted and will perform at the finale Saturday, a judge for the show said. The 48-year-old Scottish singer wowed audiences and judges during her audition in May when she belted out the classic, “I Dreamed a Dream,” from the musical “Les Miserables.” Her performance earned her a string of global television appearances. Formula One’s budget cap row looks over as Ferrari and other leading teams submitted conditional entries to the 2010 world championship on Friday. Ferrari had led opposition from the Formula One Team’s Association (FOTA) against proposals by motor sport’s governing body Federation Internationale de ”Automobile (FIA) over a proposed $60 million limit on spending by the teams.
