Cyber criminals are setting snares that move at the speed of news. Panda Security, a Spain-based antivirus maker, has been monitoring an onslaught of links with malicious software, or “malware,” on Twitter by tagging hot current topics such as the Air France crash, the NBA finals, “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert and the new iPhone.

Red Bull 1-2 as Vettel claims British GP
Germany’s Sebastian Vettel led home Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber to claim an impressive victory in the British Formula One Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. Vettel’s second success of the season leaves him 25 points behind world championship leader Jenson Button — who disappointed the home fans by finishing down in sixth place, the position he started from on the grid. Button’s Brawn GP team-mate Rubens Barrichello finished behind the dominant Red Bulls in third place, to close to within 23 points of Button in the world drivers’ standings, with Vettel breathing down the Brazilian’s neck.

World Bank: China GDP ‘growing respectably’
China can expect 7.2 percent growth in 2009, according to the World Bank, which says the country’s fiscal policies in the face of a global financial slowdown have kept the Chinese economy "growing respectably." The 7.2 percent projection for the nation’s gross domestic product — a basic measure of an economy’s performance — follows China’s November announcement that it would inject $585 billion (4 trillion yuan) into its economy to offset declines in industrial and export growth. The projection is also an upward revision of the 6.5 percent growth forecast by the World Bank in March, a forecast that was a full percentage point down from an earlier November projection. “China can have the confidence to focus on forward-looking policies and structural reforms,” said senior economist Louis Kuijs, the main author of the World Bank’s China Quarterly Update, released on Thursday.
Myanmar’s Suu Kyi turns 64 in prison
Myanmar pro-democracy figure Aung San Suu Kyi turned 64 in prison Friday, while a judge considers when to hear her appeal to allow more witnesses at her subversion trial. Suu Kyi, under house arrest for 13 of the past 19 years, had been expected to be freed by the military junta last month, until the new subversion charge was filed. Thousands of supporters left birthday messages of 64 words or less for the Nobel Peace Prize laureate on a Web site created for the occasion.

Court grants appeal in Suu Kyi case
Myanmar’s highest court Wednesday granted an appeal for more witnesses from the country’s top opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is on trial on charges of subversion. Nyan Win, a spokesman for Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy, said the court will hold a hearing Friday, which just happens to fall on the pro-democracy figure’s 64th birthday. The court is expected to set a date for when the appeal will be heard.
