In many respects, Jaycee Dugard and her two daughters lived an unremarkable public life — one that belied the horrifying circumstances that have since made front-page news. Dugard, kidnapped 18 years ago in South Lake Tahoe, California, helped manage the small printing company her alleged captor, Phillip Garrido, ran from his home in Antioch, east of San Francisco.

Ted Kennedy’s Wake: A Fond Farewell to ‘Captain Ahab’
With the Boston skyline a sparkling backdrop framed in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library’s enormous windows, 13 of Kennedy’s closest friends, colleagues and family members shared their favorite personal, poignant and sometimes bawdy memories of Rose and Joseph’s youngest son, Edward M. Accused child kidnapper’s blog boasts of sound control
The man accused of abducting an 11-year-old girl in 1991 apparently maintained a blog in which he claimed to control sound with his mind. Nobody else knew she was there except the couple that snatched her off the street in front of her house in South Lake Tahoe, California, in 1991, and took her straight to the soundproof shed, police said.

Ted Kennedy: The Lessons of His Dying
Natural death did not come naturally to the Kennedy family. Two siblings brought down in flight; two others slain. But now two more siblings have modeled the death that most Americans say they want and fear they’ll miss; both Edward Kennedy and his sister Eunice died within weeks of each other, at home, at peace, surrounded by family, after a race well run
