Attorney to seek wrong-way driver’s exhumation

The attorney for a man whose wife’s wrong-way accident killed eight people on New York’s Taconic Parkway in July says he will ask authorities to exhume her body in order to prove she wasn’t drinking at the time of the accident. Dominic Barbera, attorney for Daniel Schuler, told CNN’s “Larry King Live” he believes Diane Schuler may have suffered stroke-like symptoms and that a fire after the accident could have turned blood sugar into alcohol

Mexican tourist dies in rough waters

One Mexican tourist died and another was missing Tuesday after a wave dragged them out into the Pacific Ocean, the state-run Notimex news agency reported. Diane Schuler, 36, had a blood alcohol level of 0.19, according to the district attorney’s office. “My office, along with the New York State Police, will continue to investigate the facts and circumstances that led up to the collision causing the deaths, so that the public and the families of the victims can understand what led to this horrific crash,” District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a statement released Tuesday

The head-on crash happened July 26 when a minivan driven by Schuler and carrying five children was heading the wrong way on a northbound lane of the Taconic State Parkway about 30 miles north of New York City, police said.
