Should We Take a Second Look at the Benefits of Palm Oil?

Should we consider the possible benefits of palm oil?

Often overlooked as unhealthy, palm oils, which congeal at room temperature, may have some surprising anti-carcinogenic properties.

A staple in Southeast Asian cooking because if it’s availability, palm oil contains a certain type of vitamin E called tocotrienol. Although tocotrienols can be found in rice bran, barley and wheat, palm oil is the richest source of the nutrient. Many lab studies spanning the last two decades show this form of vitamin E to be very effective at killing cancer cells.

The research to this point has been tested primarily in laboratory studies in Southeast Asia. However, this month Davos Life Science will embark upon the first sets of human clinical trials.

The potential benefits of palm oil is being researched throughout the world. Many researchers caution that it may take years before conclusive studies can emerge from human clinical trials.

Below are researchers discussing possible benefits of the oils.
