Secret diary of a ‘pedophile teacher:’ Chilling 800-page journal details how pre-school professor ‘groomed young children in his care’
A disturbing secret diary of a pre-school professor who is under arrest for possessing child pornography reveals moments of physical contact with many of his pupils.
David Moe, 45, has worked as a teacher at the exclusive Paddington Station School in Denver for the past 18 years.
However, he was arrested on July 24 for possessing large amounts of child pornography and has since been held in jail.
During a bail hearing yesterday, Denver prosecutors read out excerpts from the secret 800-page diary of Moe, which he had kept since 1997.
The former teacher has been jailed since his arrest in July.
Excerpts from Moe’s 800-page journal, which he kept from 1997 to the present, were read in court. In several of the entries Moe wrote about his contact with the little girls at the preschool, detailing squeezes, tickles, hugs and kisses.
None of the entries details any sexually explicit behavior between Moe and the students, attorneys said, and the names of the children were removed. Still, the entries read in court depicted physical contact.
Of one girl, Moe wrote, ‘Did hold [name withheld by prosecutors] by the waist briefly, and she didn’t flinch.’
Another record read: ‘Had [name withheld] by the hips, and she was fine by that,’
Moe wrote of another little girl entrusted to his care. ‘Gave her a kiss on the cheek, and no bad reaction. I love her so much.’
In reply to one of his advances, Moe recalled a girl saying: ‘I only let my family tickle me.’ To this, he said in his diary: ‘She’s obviously been coached.’
Denver Post reported that more than 10 years before Moe was arrested in a child pornography investigation, officials at Paddington Station Preschool did not notify law enforcement or human services about an accusation that the former teacher inappropriately touched a 3-year-old girl, according to documents filed in federal court Monday.
Moe resigned from the school Thursday.
Defense attorneys argued that Moe does not represent a danger to the community and said he would be willing to wear some type of GPS locator if he is released on bond. Letters supporting Moe were also submitted to the court. Those documents have been sealed.
Hegarty also received 31 letters from Paddington parents asking that Moe remain in custody.
Following Moe’s arrest, authorities found handwritten notes at his home, detailing an incident more than 10 years ago, according to an affidavit. The notes stated that Moe was accused of taking a little girl to the bathroom and touching her inappropriately.
Moe’s notes, which were written during a meeting with the girl’s parents, said nothing was ever proven.
Investigators say they found some 500 CDs and DVDs at Moe’s home; files found on the desktop of his computer contain a mixture of child pornography and adult pornography, according to the affidavit.
