Police and Rescue Workers Rescue Iguana From Inside Car

An iguana had to be removed from under a car’s dashboard.

Miami Firefighters were called to the scene after an employee from the Miami Seaquarium called 911 after realizing there was a nearly 4 foot iguana inside of his car. After unsuccessful attempts to coax the large lizard resulted in it hiding in the workers dashboard, he tells rescuers that he was left with no other choice.

Iguana are cute and relatively easy to care for, due to their vegetarian diet. However, they should never be released but taken back to a pet store or rescue facility, as they do not thrive well out of their natural habitat.

When Miami Firefighters came to the scene, they explained their biggest problems was figuring how to get the reptile out of the dashboard. After about 15 minutes of “tail pulling” and trying to scare the iguana on fireman says “they got him out with only a few scratches.”

The over-sized vegetarian was released into a near by brush of Virginia Key.
