Fatality
Natina Reed, a member of the R&B singing trio Blaque, was fatally hit by a car as she walked on a Georgia state highway in an Atlanta suburb Friday night, police tell Reuters.
Young Girl, Life was Just Beginning
She was 32, and Sunday would have been her birthday.
The driver of the vehicle called 911 and a passenger performed CPR, but Reed was pronounced dead upon arrival at an area medical center, police said.
Details Still Unclear
According to Gwinnett County Police Sergeant Rich Long, authorities, who are looking into why the singer was on the road, said the driver was not at fault. No charges are expected to be filed.
Survived By Her Son, 10
Reed, a New York City native, is survived by her son, Tren Brown, 10. His father is the rapper Kurupt.
Reed and fellow group members – Shamari Fears DeVoe and Brandi Williams – were responsible for the 1999 hits “Bring It All to Me” and “808.” The two survivors said in a statement Saturday that Blaque had recently reunited to work on an album and a reality show.
“My world as I know it has forever changed,” DeVoe Tweeted on Saturday. “Until we meet again, may you find comfort in the arms of an angel. I love you Natina.” Union Tweeted, “#RIP #Sad #BringItOn.”
