It’s another screaming delivery for expectant parents.
Maybe that’s a bit cruel, but Kiwi mums who give birth on the same day as the Duchess of Cambridge will be given another bundle – an album of lullabies by the New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra.
The singer has recorded a selection of calming tunes including one track, Sleep On, written by royal wedding composer Paul Mealor for the forthcoming royal arrival.
Westenra and her record company are giving a copy of the Hushabye CD to every baby born in New Zealand and Australia on the same day.
Previously, the giveaway was open only to mothers in the UK, but was extended on Wednesday.
The first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge is rumoured to be due on July 13, though Buckingham Palace has refused to confirm a date.
On average, there are 168 baby born each day in New Zealand, 826 in Australia, and 1885 in the UK, leaving Westenra open to giving away nearly 3000 albums.
She has sold more than four million albums and is an ambassador for Unicef.
* Families will be able to claim their CD at the singer’s website at www.hayleywestenra.com/baby
