Demi Moore is reportedly set to file divorce papers after failing to reach a settlement with Ashton Kutcher.
The Hollywood stars announced they were parting ways in November 2011, with Ashton filing his legal papers in December last year. Sources close to 50-year-old Demi claim the actress is tired of the legal wrangling and it is believed the divorce could now go to trial.
“Ashton made a lot of money after marrying Demi – a lot more than she made – but despite him becoming just as famous through her, he believes he doesn’t owe her that much,” a source told New York Post. “She has had enough.
“It’s hoped lawyers for both sides can reach a settlement this spring, otherwise the divorce will go into litigation and trial.”
Kutcher is currently the highest-paid actor in television, reportedly earning an impressive US$24 million for his role in US show Two and a Half Men last year. The 35-year-old has also invested in a series of technology ventures.
According to the publication, Moore could file papers as early as today in Los Angeles after apparently finding her estranged spouse “difficult” during the confidential negotiations.
This will be the first time she has responded to Kutcher’s divorce petition.
“Ashton has been very difficult during the talks. You could even say he has been hostile,” a source added. “After over a year of attempting to reach a settlement, Demi is definitely ready to move on.”
Moore is being represented by New York-based attorney William Beslow, whose recent clients include model Linda Evangelista. Ashton has hired Los Angeles lawyer Laura Wasser, who has worked with stars including Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian and Angelina Jolie.
Moore and Kutcher split after six years of marriage, following speculation that the actor had been unfaithful.
Kutcher is now dating his former That ’70s Show co-star Mila Kunis and there have been reports the pair are planning to wed later this year.
