Broadcaster Mike Hosking has spoken of his excitement at joining Seven Sharp.
TVNZ confirmed last evening the nightly current affairs show would return next year, with Hosking and Breakfast’s Toni Street to join current co-host Jesse Mulligan.
Alison Mau announced her last show would be on Friday, while Tamati Coffey’s fate was unclear.
On his Newstalk ZB breakfast radio show this morning, Hosking said he was “very excited” about his new gig, but stayed mum on the details.
Asked by newsreader Bernadine Oliver-Kerby what he was going to bring to the show, Hosking said: “It’s early days, I’m barely out of the slumber of signing up yesterday. It’s all been a whirlwind.”
He was looking forward to being back at TVNZ, he said.
“I’m trying not to build it up, but I am [excited].”
Hosking was the original co-host of TVNZ’s Breakfast show when it launched in 1997. He later served as a back-up host for Close Up, as well as hosting game show Who Wants to Be A Millionaire on TV One.
