According to CBS.com, Wayne Carter of Hackensack, NJ stabbed himself in the abdomen and threw pieces of intestines and flesh at police officers who were trying to subdue him.
Emergency services were called in when the forty-three-year-old man had barricaded himself into a room and was threating to harm himself. Hackensack Police knocked down his door and ordered Carter to drop the knife he was hold. It was then that he stood up and began to stab himself in the abdomen, legs and neck. The officers sprayed pepper spray in an attempted to subdue him enough to open a window of opportunity and take away the knife.
Things went from bad to worse when the officers realized the pepper spray had no effect on the man. Instead of retreating or dropping the knife to cover his face, the crazed Carter began to cut out pieces of skin, flesh and intestines to throw at the police officers that were surrounding him.
The police retreated as they feared he would only continue to mutilate himself if they didn’t. They called in the swat team who was able to restrain Carter, get the knife and get him to rescue workers who took him immediately to the hospital, when he is still in critical care.
Due to the unusual nature of the incident, no charges have been filed.
