A recent study published Psychological Science and discovered a link between those ranking lower in the intelligence quotient exams to having prejudged ideas and conservative political views.
Of those involved in the study the lower ranking subjects tended to be more prejudice than their higher ranking counterparts. What’s more is that many of those who scored towards the bottom also had more conservative political views.
Dr. Gordon Hodson thinks it’s a vicious cycle. His theory is that people with lower IQ scores tend to stay in the same circles and gravitate towards the conservative viewpoints. Not allowing anything new to stimulate their minds and viewpoints they pass these traits to new generations. Bringing in and considering new ideas are a way to broaden ones horizons and stimulate the mind.
