Lorde hates dentists, her mum still buys her shampoo, and she reckons she “looks like Gollum” when she performs.
The 17-year-old Kiwi singing sensation took to social news and entertainment website Reddit to answer fan questions during an “Ask Me Anything” session.
In an hour she attracted almost 5000 questions and comments.
During that time, she confirmed she would be performing at a “major festival” in North America in 2014.
She also revealed for her next video, she was deciding between the songs Ribs, 400 Lux and Buzzcut.
One fan asked why she referred to teeth so much in her album, Pure Heroine.
Lorde replied: “Just a weird obsession that has been with me always. Ironically, I hate dentists.”
Another asked what shampoo she uses on her trademark curls.
“My mum buys it in 2-litre bottles from the supermarket I don’t even know [sic],” Lorde replied.
She said she had no regrets about going into the music industry at such a young age.
“I feel like I learnt early on how things worked and that gave me a good understanding of what could be f***ed with/which rules were dumb and shouldn’t have to be followed,” she said.
“Plus, I can sit down with basically the most intimidating people in the industry and not flinch. And maybe even make them flinch. Or cry. Heh.”
ON SCHOOL: Lorde said she was unsure if she was going to finish school: “Obviously it’s hard at the moment, although I do read theses/academic writing from teachers regularly”.
