The affair that rocked Hollywood is continuing to spur new developments.
On Wednesday, Kristen Stewart, 22, admitted that she’d had a romantic liaison with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, 41.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry,” Stewart said Wednesday, in a statement released to PEOPLE.
Sanders followed with his own statement.
“I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,” he said. “My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”
Now, in the hours since the story broke, many are left wondering: Where do Stewart and her boyfriend, Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson, 26, go from here? Will Sanders split from his wife, Liberty Ross? And when will the noticeably silent Pattinson say something?
We’ll find out soon enough.
In the meantime, read on for the latest developments in the ongoing story, from a new set of photos featuring a tearful Stewart to Pattinson’s next movie project, below.
1) On Thursday, photos were released to the Internet that showed a tearful Stewart begging the paparazzi to leave her alone. Incidentally, the photos were taken on July 19, just two days after cameras caught Stewart engaging in a rendezvous with Sanders. See the photos in our gallery, above.
2.) The show must go on: Screen Australia announced late Wednesday that Pattinson’s next movie, The Rover, has officially gotten the green light. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the futuristic western is about a man named Eric who “has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him, as he’s forced to join an injured gang member, Rey, to hunt down Rey’s gang after they steal the last of Eric’s possessions.” Guy Pearce co-stars in the film, which will be helmed by Animal Kingdom’s David Michod.
3.) And speaking of Pattinson, sources for PEOPLE confirmed Thursday that he moved out of the home he shared with Stewart in Los Angeles. “I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover from this,” the source said.
4.) Sources for Radar Online say that Stewart will write a private letter to the wife of Sanders, Liberty Ross, to apologize for her actions. “Kristen didn’t feel it was appropriate to issue a public apology to Liberty once the story of her affair with Rupert broke,” the source said. “Instead, she’s going to do the decent thing and write Liberty a private letter expressing her deepest regret for her actions.”
5.) Pattinson — who has yet to comment on the scandal — will presumably return to the spotlight in the next couple of weeks, as his new film, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, hits theaters in limited release on Aug. 16.
6.) Our readers are still reacting to the unsettling news, with many agreeing that Stewart should not be given a second chance after cheating on Rob.
