Welsh classical singer Katherine Jenkins has been forced to deny she had an affair with David Beckham after bogus rumours circulated on Twitter. Jenkins, 32, took to the micro blogging site to rubbish the reports by issuing a statement claiming that she had only met the footballer only twice and said that she had never been on her own with Beckham.
The rumours swept Twitter after a picture of a fake magazine cover started doing the rounds, which claimed that Beckham had left his wife, Victoria, the Telegraph reported.
Numerous users tweeted the unfounded rumour that the alleged affair was covered by a superinjunction.
However, others took to Twitter to point out they had not even heard of the rumour until she brought it up.
A spokesman for the LA Galaxy star said the allegations were “rubbish” and “nonsensical.”
Jenkins tweeted: “Dear Twitter friends, I’ve read some horrible rumours on here and want u 2 know I absolutely deny I’ve had an affair with David Beckham.
“The rumours are very hurtful, untrue and my lawyers tell me actionable. I’ve only met David twice: once at the Military Awards in 2010 and on a night out in the West End in Feb 2012.
“We were out in a group of friends and it was just a normal fun evening out. Just so we are clear I have never been on my own with him and never arranged to meet up,” she wrote.
Jenkins was spotted at the same club as Beckham in February where it was claimed she had partied with the footballer and Prince Harry until the early hour. They were later spotted leaving separately.
She is said to be dating dancer Derek Hough whom she me on Dancing With The Stars.
