In the latest Radio New Zealand renovation, Jim Mora joins Mary Wilson on Checkpoint.
RNZ today announced Wilson and Mora would combine as co-hosts of National Radio’s Checkpoint from Monday July 7.
Wilson and Mora were looking forward to combining their “complementary talents” on the two-hour show, RNZ said.
While there would be some changes to the overall sound of Checkpoint with dual hosting, the show would not change editorially.
RNZ said the new show would harness Mora’s presentation skills, adding a new dimension to the existing news-based programme fronted by Wilson.
Mora would continue hosting The Panel from 4pm to 5pm, which had the biggest afternoon radio audience in New Zealand.
Wilson would be Wellington-based and Mora in Auckland.
Wilson has been hosting Checkpoint since 1997.
