Jennifer Love Hewitt is returning to TV following the birth of her baby girl.
The 35-year-old actress welcomed her first child with husband Brian Hallisay in November, shortly after the season finale of her US TV drama The Client List.
Entertainment Weekly now reports Hewitt will return to work in the fall, having landed a series regular role on CBS crime drama Criminal Minds, about a team of specialised federal investigators.
According to the outlet, Hewitt will play Kate Callahan, a “seasoned undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit”.
Showrunner Erica Messer confirmed the news in a statement to EW.com, insisting the cast and crew are “thrilled” to have Hewitt on board. She also promised longtime viewers Hewitts’s character won’t disappoint.
