A heartbroken male Pit Bull stayed by the side of his friend, a female Pit Bull for fourteen hours after she had been killed by a motorist in Phoenix, AZ. As passersby watched and local business owners brought food to the bereaved canine, he just stayed by his companions side, nuzzling her and looking forlorn.
The photo, taken by an onlooker and posted to Facebook quickly gained popularity and drew the attention of an outraged woman in Chicago whom then placed a call to the Mayor’s office in Phoenix to express her concerns about the dogs still being on the roadway for nearly fourteen hours.
Animal Control came on the scene and picked up the dogs. Though many calls have been made inquiring about possibly adopting the sensitive Pit, his handler remains unsure of his emotional stability. The handler has concerns about whether or not the dog will be able to be placed into a home.
