Gallagher’s jealous rant at Daft Punk

Britpop’s pre-eminent windbag, former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, has goaded chart-topping Daft Punk, claiming he could have written the French electro duo’s hit Get Lucky in an hour.

According to The Sun, Gallagher told Sony’s MU streaming service: “I’d write that in a f—ing hour.

“I don’t know what the fuss is about, you know what I mean It’s like f–k off, give me a f–ing break.”

Get Lucky went to No.1 around the world – including in Australia and Britain (and climbed to No 2 in New Zealand) – as did the duo’s new album, Random Access Memories, on the back of a brilliant marketing campaign by Sony and Columbia records culminating in a launch party in the small NSW town of Wee Waa.

Random Access Memories is now sitting comfortably on the top of the New Zealand charts, having already scored gold status.

Gallagher, now the lead singer of the less popular Beady Eye, was also unimpressed by Daft Punk’s trademark robot-style helmets. “Take your f–king helmet off. Let’s see what you look like sans helmet, whatever you’re called.”

Gallagher, a notorious loudmouth who has previously taken potshots at everyone from Radiohead to Coldplay and Amy Winehouse to Robbie Williams once quipped that being in Oasis was a higher honour than being God.

In 2008, Gallagher, when asked by The Times what the public thought of him replied: “Loudmouth blagging gobshite from Manchester … and they’d be totally correct.”

And they’d still be right.
