Charlotte Dawson’s sister is overwhelmed by the loving comments the family has received over the past few days as she puts the final touches on funeral preparations.
Former model and television presenter Dawson was found dead in her Sydney apartment on Saturday.
Vicky Dawson told Fairfax Media from Sydney that after a private cremation ceremony in the next few days the public would be able to farewell Charlotte on Friday.
“There’s going to be a private cremation for family only and then there is going to be a celebration of her life on Friday at 11am,” Vicky Dawson said.
“There is something on the Foxtel website for people to register that they are going to come.
“[It’s] kind of like an invitation and people if they want to come can register just so that we’ve got an idea of numbers.
“I think it’s going to be at the Beresford [Hotel] in Surrey Hill.”
Another service for family and friends in New Zealand would be held in a few weeks, Vicky Dawson said.
“We are going to have a family and friends memorial service back in Auckland so her friends in New Zealand can say goodbye as well.
“That won’t be for a few weeks. We haven’t set a date for that one yet, but there will definitely be something over there for her friends and family to say goodbye.”
Although family members were devastated by the loss, they were overwhelmed by the response from the public and the press, Vicky Dawson said.
“I would like to thank everybody for all their positive and loving comments which has meant a great deal to us.
“We are devastated by our loss, but the press in particular have been just wonderful with their comments.”
All of the services would be a celebration of Charlotte Dawson during her best times, Vicky Dawson said.
“I think we just have to be positive.
“She’s in a happy place now, she’s at peace and we’ve got to remember the good things about her life not the silly thing at the end.
“But all the good things that she has done and the wonderful person that she was.”
