After a year’s absence the Big Day Out is returning to Auckland, in new quarters.
The first lineup announcement for the January 17 festival is due on August 1, organisers said today.
“We are absolutely over the moon to be back and have a brand new home at Auckland’s Western Springs,” they said.
The event was canned for 2013 when then organiser Ken West said it was financially unsustainable with increasing costs and decreasing profits, but promoter Campbell Smith said earlier this year he had found a way to make it work.
Big Day Out NZ would host a multi-stage music, art and culture event created specifically for its New Zealand audience.
The team was now working to transform the iconic city green space into “the most incredible festival site ever”, including new stages and new areas, which would soon be unveiled.
Early-bird tickets will go on sale from bigdayout.com and ticketmaster.co.nz at 9am on Monday August 12.
