Jazz dancer Annie Theewis has nailed it on the international stage.
The Geraldine High School head girl returned from Hollywood on Tuesday with an armful of trophies.
She travelled to Los Angeles on July 6 after being selected by a talent scout to attend the World Championships of Performing Arts.
The Geraldine community were generous and helped her raise the $15,000 she needed to get to the championships.
She landed a gold, two silver and bronze medal, and was offered a six- month scholarship to the Millennium Dance School in Los Angeles.
Annie was also named the world champion musical theatre dancer.
She still sounded a little jet-lagged yesterday but said she looked forward to getting back to school.
Annie is not sure whether she will accept the scholarship as there would be considerable costs involved.
She said her dancing would continue and she was still weighing up the options of continuing on to university next year.
She thanked the Geraldine community for their support and said she would be catching up with people over the next few days.
“I also need to give a big thank you to my dance teacher who helped me out.
“I’m not sure if I will go back to the States but I have the option which is a possibility; the trip was certainly a learning experience.”
It was during a lip-sync competition at Caroline Bay that her talent was noticed.
Annie initially raised $8000 towards the trip and boosted the coffers when she hosted a masquerade ball and auction at Geraldine High School’s hall in May.
