Kiwi songbird Hayley Westenra has reportedly married in a secret ceremony in Canterbury, but her father says the wedding “hasn’t happened yet”.
Westerna and her fiance, Arnaud Sabard, signed an exclusive deal with Woman’s Day magazine to cover the wedding, editor Sido Kitchin told the New Zealand Herald.
The couple tied the knot on Sunday in North Canterbury, in front of about 90 guests, the magazine claimed.
“It was a rainy day, but nothing could dampen Hayley’s happiness. She looked exquisite,” Kitchin said.
The 26-year-old international singing star, who hails from Christchurch, became engaged to the French sound engineer in early 2012.
However, Westenra’s father, Gerald, this morning said his daughter was not married and did not know where the “rumours” were coming from.
“[The wedding] is getting close, but it hasn’t happened yet,” he said.
Someone may have “misread the date”, he said.
He said he was not aware of the statement Woman’s Day editor Sido Kitchin had made to the Herald.
