Paul Walker’s mother has petitioned for guardianship over the late actor’s daughter, saying the teenager’s mother has a drinking problem.
Petitioning for guardianship, the actor’s mother, Cheryl Ann Walker claims the 15-year-old needs extra legal protection.
It ”will be necessary and convenient for Petitioner to be appointed as the guardian of the person and of the estate”, states the documents obtained by TMZ.
The files also say Meadow and her mother, Rebecca Soteros, already live with Cheryl Ann but Soteros is unable to provide sufficient care for the teenager because she “has a drinking problem”.
The document did not go into further details about the drinking allegations.
Walker, the star of Fast and Furious, died on November 30 when the Porsche in which he was a passenger crashed and burst into flames.
Fairfax reported a copy of the 40-year-old’s will stated he had asked his mother to be appointed Meadow’s legal guardian.
Walker’s father, Paul Walker III, was named executor of the will.
TMZ speculated this could be a problem as Meadow already has a guardian, her mother, Soteros.
Soteros has 2 DUIs; one in 2003 and another last year, reported TMZ.
Meadow is set to inherit up to $16 million.
Just days after the crash, Walker III told E! News, “Meadow’s taking it really tough, but there again, she has family around her and some very, very loving friends and everybody they’re all close.”
