The Cumberbomb has turned Benedict Cumberbatch into the king of the photobomb.
After photobombing Irish rock band U2 on the Oscars red carpet – inserting himself into a photo of the group by jumping up and down behind them – Cumberbatch sparked a new internet meme: “Cumberbombing”.
With speculation that it was one of the best Oscars red-carpet moments, the hilarious Cumberbomb is now trending across social media, bombing a wide variety of other moments, including some before the Sherlock star was born.
Images of artwork, royalty, and famous moments in history have all had a Cumberbomb added.
He appears behind Winston Churchill, Franklin D Roosevelt and Joseph Stalin at the then-world leaders’ meeting in Yalta in 1945.
When man landed on the moon, Cumberbatch was there, leaping up with splayed fingers.
Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and The Avengers were also treated to a dose of Cumberbatch’s antics.
The Mona Lisa did not escape the Cumberbomb – but at least the leaping little Cumberbatch has given a possible explanation for her mysterious smile.
