The author Candace Bushnell has sprung to the defence of The Carrie Diaries following Sarah Jessica Parker’s comment that she finds the new TV show odd.
Based on Bushnell’s novels, the show stars young actor AnnaSophia Robb as a teenaged Carrie Bradshaw who is just starting to develop her passion for fashion and publishing while coming to terms with her mother’s death.
Setting off the media storm was Parker’s revelation in Net-A-Porter magazine that she finds it strange to see someone else inhabiting the character she made famous.
