A Bollywood romance is diverting India’s cricket fans from the doom and gloom afflicting their side on their New Zealand tour.
Having lost the one-day series and now the first test, India hasn’t the fondest memories of the cricket, but Virat Kohli is presumably happy.
He’s been batting well on the pitch, and as photographs widely published in India over the weekend show, he’s had a good time off.
He’s been photographed walking up an Auckland bus lane hand in hand with Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma.
And last week Sharma was a guest on the immensely popular gossip show Koffee With Karen.
The host kept asking her about her relationship with Kohli to which she giggled: “I feel naked right now.”
Karen continued to tease her, saying: “India’s glory is in your hands Anushka.”
The discussion ended with her saying their relationship “could go anywhere”.
The couple met while shooting a commercial last year and both claim they are just friends.
She had been connected to young batsman Suresh Raina but it did not last long.
Raina said he did not have time for relationships.
Cricket and Bollywood neatly merge this Friday – Valentine’s Day.
Part of the Indian public want to know what Kohli will get Sharma on the day – and the other part want to know how India is going to avoid another defeat at the second test in Wellington.
