Auckland’s King Joffrey toppled


Game of Thrones fans from 123 countries have brought drown the evil King Jeoffrey down.

In anticipation of the fourth season based on George R.R. Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire a giant seven-metre statue of King Joffrey had been erected in Aotea Square, with a rope around his neck.

An angry mob of Joffrey-haters as far as Antarctica, El Savador and Iraq who got behind the campaign to topple the universally abhort character.

With every use of the hashtag, the rope, connected to the statue became one cog tighter and closer to falling.

Tweets finally reached a critical mass at 5.32pm, only hours before the highly anticipated New Zealand premiere.

The people spoke and the statue fell.
