Album review: Fear Inside our Bones – The Almost

FEAR INSIDE OUR BONES
The Almost
(Shock)

Florida alternative rockers The Almost leave little room for error.

Their third album was recorded live in the studio over a manic four days and it certainly captures a sometimes manic and unbridled energy even when songs such as Fight Song and I Won’t Let Go are fairly straightforward pieces of rock grinding ear candy.

Vocalist and lyricist Aaron Gillespie hits the panic button on a relationship in the off-kilter bluesy first single I’m Down and decides it’s worth fighting for rather than running away from, while the title track is an honest assessment of the fears that reside in all of us.

It finds its own kind resolution in an anthemic chorus that suggests we are not alone and that knowing this can liberate us and make us feel alive.

The Almost are not quite but are certainly worth checking out.
