You know what they say “Third time is the charm” .
Apparently not for Tom Cruise, after Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman , now his third wife Katie Holmes is filing for a divorce.
So what went wrong?
Tom’s first marriage was with Mimi Rogers, the couple tied the knot in May 1987 and stayed married till February 1990. When their divorce was announced some reports blamed his increasing success as a leading man and some blamed his fertility problems and troubles in the bedroom. Probably these rumors started after she joked about Tom’s performance in the bedroom.
”Tom was seriously thinking of becoming a monk,” she “joked” to Playboy in 1993. “At least for that period of time, it looked as though marriage wouldn’t fit into his overall spiritual need. And he thought he had to be celibate to maintain the purity of his instrument. Therefore it became obvious we had to split.”
The second marriage was with Nicole Kidman. Tom and Nicole married 10 months after his first marriage to Mimi Rogers and stayed together till August 2001.
Since the couple right after the movie they have shot together, media accused the marriage for being a sham for movie publicity but the couple managed to stay together for almost 8 year and adopted two children together. Kidman never accused Tom for anything but the fact that they have adopted two children instead of making their own raised some eye brows.
After two failures Tom met Katie Holmes, who revealed to Seventeen magazine her childhood dream of becoming the movie star’s wife. “I think every little girl dreams about [her wedding]. I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise. Just like the first two marriages the third one was also almost started too perfect and accused of being a publicity stunt.
After 6 years of marriage couple reportedly filed for a divorce.
Well I guess Tom has to wait and see if the fourth time is the charm for him. Of course if he may want to stay single and work on his lost purity that he lost with those 3 marriages.
